Terms and licence
Last updated 28 August 2026. These terms apply to Bloomsteader v6.2.6 and later.
The short version. You buy Bloomsteader once and it is yours to use, forever, on every device you own. You may not resell it or give it away. If it is not what you hoped for, email us within 30 days and we refund you in full, no questions.
The rest of this page is the long version. It is the agreement between you and Bloomsteader LLC (“Bloomsteader”, “we”, “us”), registered in Washington, United States, at 237 Taylor Street, Second Floor, Port Townsend, WA 98368. By buying or using Bloomsteader you agree to it.
What you are buying
You are buying a licence to use the Bloomsteader software. You are not buying the software itself, and you are not buying any right to sell it on.
There are three tiers, and content packs sold separately. What each one includes is described on the pricing section of the home page at the time you buy.
What your licence lets you do
- Use Bloomsteader for your own personal or household gardening, or for your own farm or business, for as long as you like.
- Install and run it on every device you own. There is no device limit and no activation server.
- Keep the copy you have, forever. It runs offline and needs nothing from us to keep working.
- Keep using the version you bought even if you later stop hearing from us entirely.
- Export your own data and do whatever you want with it. Your garden plans are yours.
What your licence does not let you do
- Give, sell, lend, rent, sublicense or publish the software or your licence key to anyone else.
- Post the app file, or your key, anywhere others can get it.
- Use one licence across an organisation, a team, or several households. One licence is for one buyer.
- Remove or alter the copyright and licence notices inside the software.
- Sell a product built out of Bloomsteader’s code, or a modified version of it.
You may modify your own copy for your own use. You may not distribute what you make.
About your key
Your key is verified on your own device, offline. Nothing phones home. That is a deliberate design choice, and it means we rely on you rather than on enforcement.
Your key has your purchase email inside it. If a key is shared, it is traceable back to the person it was issued to. Sharing a key breaks these terms, and we may stop reissuing keys to an account that does it.
Refunds — 30 days, no questions
Write to hello@bloomsteader.com within 30 days of buying and we refund you in full. No forms, no questions, no explanation needed.
This applies to the app tiers, to content packs, and to upgrades.
Two honest notes about how it works:
- Refunds are issued through Gumroad, who took your payment. It usually takes a few business days to reach your card or account.
- A refund cancels your licence. Your key will still technically open the software, because verification is offline and we cannot reach into your device — but you no longer have the right to use it, and we ask you to stop.
Merchandise is separate. It is made to order by Printful, so returns follow the merch store’s own policy. If something arrives damaged or wrong, email us and we will make it right.
Buying, prices and payment
Gumroad sells Bloomsteader to you as merchant of record. That means Gumroad takes your payment, handles taxes, and issues your receipt. Gumroad’s own terms also apply to the transaction, and we never see your card details.
Prices are shown on the home page and can change. Founder pricing is held through 30 September 2026. A price change never affects something you have already bought.
Content packs are delivered as files through Gumroad, not as a licence key.
Updates and support
We may release updates. We do not promise to, and we do not promise any particular schedule. What you bought keeps working whether or not an update ever arrives.
Support is one person answering hello@bloomsteader.com. We will do our best and we answer every message, but there is no guaranteed response time.
This is a planning aid, not advice
Confirm identification and the legal position with a qualified local authority before eating, brewing, applying, handling or planting anything. Never use a plant medicinally without advice from a qualified practitioner.
Frost dates, spacings, days to harvest and yield figures are averages and ranges. They vary widely by site, season and cultivar. The app labels its own estimates as estimates, and you should treat them that way.
Plant data, companion guidance and the reference text are derived from Edible & Useful Plants for the Home Garden, which draws on Garden.org, the USDA PLANTS Database, The Old Farmer’s Almanac and US cooperative extension services.
No warranty
Bloomsteader is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it is free of errors or that it will suit your garden.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, illness, injury, crop failure, lost data or other damage arising from your use of Bloomsteader. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid us.
Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is so, they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed.
If you break these terms
If you redistribute the software or share a key, your licence ends. We would much rather write to you first and sort it out, and that is what we will normally do.
The legal bits
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- These terms, plus the privacy policy and the description of what you bought, are the whole agreement between us.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced to newsletter subscribers. Changes are not retroactive: what you have already bought is governed by the terms in force when you bought it.
Anything unclear here, ask: hello@bloomsteader.com. We would rather explain it than have you guess.
